z3 shifter sitting a bit forward

Just put in a z3 shifter and top gears( r 1 3 5) seems to close on the front while and 2nd and 4 th sit in the middle. Did I put it in backwards.? I put it with the bend to the rear. I wonder if it spun around on me before I hooked it up..

Did you make the same mistake?

Funny-- I think it was the one clip that made me overlook the in car shifter profile. Thing took 1/2 an hour to get right..

uhm, do you have the z3 1.9 shifter? if so, it's *supposed* to sit forward...

              hmmm feels " way" forward"

As I said in original post, 2nd and 4th gear sit just about where the original shifter neutral was. Feels a little off to me. I could have sworn I put the bend facing backwards and I would be suprised if it spun around on me. I got it set in it's white plastic mount bushing, clicked it in and went under and connected to linkage. Will have to check it out when I get back from Philly Livestrong Challenge..

If you read up on it a bunch of people bend the rod at the ball so it sits in the normal position.
