    Keyless entry help

I'm having trouble finding the lock and unlock wires located behind the drivers side speaker panel. The following URL goes to a thread of mine on bimmerforums where I got most of my information http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...59#post2290559
    .

The very last post describes my current status.

If anyone knows anything about these wires in questions I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

Go by the wiring directions that came with the kit.

I did mine exactly with the wires that they told me to (after I double checked in the Bentley) and it worked fine. For like 5 minutes, then it stopped working and I have no idea why.

I am following the directions as far as I can tell. Just to clarify, what locking system do we have? The instructions describe 4 different types of locking systems.

Which wires did you use to lock and unlock your car?

      Thanks

crap its been so long i camt remember, blue and green I think.

go to the12volt.com and look at thier wiring colors for an 83 320i. Its the same and its correct.

If you have soldering skills solder and heat shrink them, then you will never have to worry about them coming loose or corroding.
        Im now E30less.

I'm currently installing the Stellar ST8000 that i got for $100 from mustangdepot.com.

I'm very close to completion at this point.

            Ryan,

Thanks for the info. I will check that diagram. I used a different one from the12volt.com before.

              Ryan,

The 83 320i didn't have anything listed for lock and unlock wires. I have it all done except for locking and unlocking.

My diagram says nothing about using external relays or other electrical components to get the locking and unlocking working. It seems that all I need to do is tap into the wires. I was told to do nothing with the lock and unlock NC wires as outlined on my bimmerforums thread.

Crap, mybad they have changed the site. It used to have the wire colors.

I used external relays to protect the alarm brain. LIttle 3 amp ones from Radio shack were soo cheap its like "why not?"

I cant go pulling the module to look at how I wire d mine up right now. After I get the two hard finals out of the way I can do it tho.
                Im now E30less.

mine is wired in the trunk. I'd put it there.. it's super easy to get to and the trunk lock is also a master lock like the drivers door.

Yes that would be easy if you are JUST doing remote entry because you could use the wires to the gaslid lock. The only downside is integrating it into the parking lights for flashing and the horn for alarm and getting ignition signal.

I got it all working. It turns out I had the wrong wire connected to the ground. The stellar st8000 uses a brown/blue and a brown which I had mixed up.

The system works great. I'm very happy with the results.

My rear red sidemarkers don't seem to flash with the rest of the system. At this point I'm not sure if its supposed to be like that or not but I would like to get them flashing at some point.

                      Thanks for all the help.

One has 6 channels of output and one has only 5. The extra channel on the KL600 could be another trigger wire or another control wire, it doesn't really say. For the same price I would get teh KL600.
