I was just at my local salvage yard picking up some wiring plugs to hook up my new euro spec Smoked Headlights and out front they had a complete 97 M3 that had a lite hit in the front. The motor, tranny, suspention, and interior are still mint. They only want $9000 for it. Im wondering, I've seen M50's swaped into E30's. Would the S52 swap into them also? and what about using the M3 tranny and mabe some of the suspention to do a 5 lug conversion and use the wheels and tires off it. any help or web sites with info would be a great help. Thanx

I'd definitely skip and try to find an M/S50. Much easier to manage with OBDI.

ok so i guess the s50 being a 95 motor would be obd I and the s52 being an obd II motor ok so that makes sence. People have been saying that changing the motor back to obd I is expencive. So i guess ill pass on this car and if i happen to find a 95 M3 under the same sircumstances. Ill think about that. Thanx everyone for setting me in the right direction. :D

If you really want to do an S52 contact Blunt over at www.roadfly.com
No I can't condone the way those nuts act like over there attacking here, but his 87 with a s52 is awesome. That car must be a monster, and he gives out info fairly easy.

That, or probably because most people on the internet are fucking idiots that don't know anything unless someone has already posted it up on a message board before them.
Seriously though, swapping to an OBDI top isn't that complex.

Just scour a junkyard for the intake parts/wiring/ controller and then just have someone seal up those ports on the exhaust manifold and tap one sensor and you are good to go.
Hell you could prolly make a bit back selling the 5000 emissions pieces you took off. Maybe make an in-car vaccumm with that little pump and hose that pushes air into the exhaust.
Isnt the S50 undersquare and the S52 oversquare? S50 being peakier but more reliable?Im now E30less.

-CharlieOh, good. There is even an emoticon for it.
I'm with Charlie on this one. It really isn't that difficult. That is, unless you find swapping manifolds and plugging in connectors difficult. If that is the case, you have no business thinking about a motor swap in the first place.
Admittedly, there are some places on the internet that charge a lot of money for the parts to swap to OBD-I. Do some work (gasp!) and source what you need by yourself. If the prospect of that scares you then...
