Over here in malaysia, I have seen and heard E30s with SR20DET, 1JZ, RB20DET, RB25DET and bla bla bla... and also the 2.0 VTEC from the HONDA S2000
SR20DET in a E30 would be good as it would still be light in front compared to a 6 potter.

Have tested 0-60mph in a SR E30, clocked 6.2 sec with a G-Tech Pro meter...

Have oso seen a E32 750i with a RB25DET. Reason for this conversion is the high road tax for big cc cars in Malaysia. road tax for 5 liter engine is more than 10X more expensive than a 2.5 liter engine.

Anything is the different specs of SR20DET engine. The red top, and black top. And there's the 6 speed manual gearbox. The more expensive one is the SR20DET from the S15 silvia...

Thats cheating! You gotta do your own damn work to really enjoy it.
But your saying he put a 9inch ford rear end hooked to his rotary? Me no get it.

I've also spoken to this guy Gus is talking about.
It is a straight line machine, thats it, thus the 9" backend. Such a waste!!

Have a look at a 2JZ, a stock one will be more than enough for the E30.
My E30 with the 1JZ gets pretty nervious, much more HP and you are really wasting your time, unless you put a cage in it and run some pretty $$$ tyres & suspension, then it might as well be a track car!!!

Do you have any info on your car? I really like that idea. Wiring is the only concern I have. Did you jsut buy a clip and jsut swap out all the wiring? Vert tick....

wiring was pretty straight forward, nothing to be concerned about.
Just reconnect the power supplies & a few signal wires and it's all go.
Most of my time was spent double checking everything to make sure I hadn't missed something.

I didn't get a clip, just a wiring loom & ECU (engine & GB of course too).

I'm in the process of getting the info together for a web page (refer sig).

Cheapest way to double your HP thats for sure!!

                I got a mag with an article on a RB20DET powered E30 (it was originally a 323i)

The guy picked the engine up for AUS$800 (~US$600). It looks like a very snug fit, but puts out 228 rear wheel kW. That's 304hp to you imperial folk

Apologies for the less than perfect image quality:

It looks like everyone but Americans have no problem with assembeling these E30s with frankenstein motors.

Yeah I saw that article in the ZOOM mag, it had hideous chrome wheel arch stick on things!!

Sure the engine cost $800, but it was F*&K'd, and he had to rebuild it, plus all the other mods he has done, turbo, inlet manifold, ECU, coils, and still only 224rwkw, thats a nissan for ya!!

I put down 218rwkw with an exhaust & intercooler, stock boost even (12psi).

But back on track, Yeah, you guys in the states aren't very adventurous with you engine conversions, except for the odd LS1 in a BMW, talk about brute HP where is the refined engineering in 5.7l of push-rod dinosaur technology..

Don't go off on the Chevy LS1 now! That engine is a marvel of modern engineering.
