I have no catalyst and I'm running two mufflers (inline) with a 3" pipe and a set of headers. The car is very livable.

i would want it to sound loud..... i'd like it.... but its usually the "quality" of the sound that really bugs me. if it has a really gnarly rasp to it i wouldn't be too happy... i'd much rather have it be a smoother sounding.... i cant stand any type of buzz or can of nails sound. POST SOME SOUND CLIPS IF YOU GOT EM!

i had a straight pipe on my 318 for a while when my muffler rusted off .... it sounded pretty cool when the engine was warm but it droned on like a mofo on the highway
it sounded like shit when the car was cold tho.
got a supersprint about a month ago and im glad i did.

you guys are just pussies, never thought about emissions once, never looked back. I'm waiting to see if my m50 swap looks stock enough to pass visual smog :twisted:

an m50 would be completely legal in cali as long as you had EGR on and a CARB referee check it over.

probably want to take it in stock @ first and then do mods after it's had the fine-toothed-comb treatment...

Well,the only straight pipe car i ve seen/driven was a 1lt Lancia Y !!!
The car was really loud plus the tacho showed 180km/h on the motorway and the car was loaded with 3 passengers weighting around 300+Kg ! now,THAT was scary...
