    whining noise under rear seats...?

I had the rear seats out of the car to do the rear speaker's wiring, I was hungry so I went out to the local in-n-out with a couple friends.

I left the seats out and since I did, I heard a noise I've never heard, it was obviously being muffled by the rear seat.

It's a whining noise. At first, I thought it was the fuel pump, but engine speed does not affect it. Only thing that affects how loud the whining is the speed of the actual car. The faster the car, the higher pitched the whine is. Since I am 90% sure it is not something fuel related, could it be somewhere in the drivetrain, like the rear differential? I just got the fluid changed to be on the safe side but the rear seats are back in so I haven't taken the time to notice. I will take the seats out tomorrow and see if it still makes the noise.

    Anyways, thanks for the help!

Could be a number of things. It really could be your fuel pump but it doesn't necessarily mean that there is something wrong with it. It could also be your rear diff. Try adding some redline gear lube. They also make and addative to quiet noisy diffs. One last thing that I can think of right now is your center support bearing for your drive shaft.

it's most likely just your fuel pump.. it's under the rear seats. ;)

i would say it is the differential but generally those make noise when you are slowing down

well, whatever the noise is, it doesn't sound like an actual problem, and I can't even hear it with the seat on even if I try to listen. So, I guess this is all good.
