    custom chip?

OK I'm soon (hopefully) gonna have a stroker motor together, with a few other mods. I will get a 173 ecu, and I wasn't sure what to do about the swap. I was just gonna get a jc chip for the 173 ecu, and set fuel with an afpr. but what are the options/benefits of getting a "custom" chip, and what would that entail?

You can either call a company like Active Autowerke, tell them your mods, and have them burn a chip without seeing your car. Or you can go and put your car on a dyno at a place that makes chips and they will create/tweak a chip specifically for your car. Or you could get a piggyback computer like SMT-6 and get on a dyno and tune it all yourself.

if you're going custom, the SMT6 isn't very expensive and will probably work the best if you tune it properly.
