    running rich

Well I was informed yesterday night that when I shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th, there is an abundance of carbon that comes out of the exhaust. Now where can I start looking in order to lean it out?

FYI, I'm running 19#ers and an m30 afm.

    Let me know.

    Thanks,
    E30Fiend

Well I know for a fact that the chip isn't designed for it but I had been told this once before and that it was spittin out some shit when I shifted so this has been happening for a while.

since it seeems to be such a popular mod for the m20 then shouldn't there be a nice tune to adjust the timing, spark and fuel curve? maybe thicker guage ignition wires would help a lil?

it's because you're using a metering device calibrated for a different engine, and possibly your O2 sensor is dead. also, without a wideband readout there's no way to tell if you're actually running rich, or by how much.

thats actually what i was thinking also. hopefully I can pick up a new sensor within a couple weeks.
Do you think i can do anything else to check it? Like some sort of diagnostic??

                    thanks Nando,

unplug the battery. it will reset your ECU and you should be good to go. it worked for me at least...

I guess its worth a shot.

I'm pretty sure its not the chip because it was doing it before I changed chips. I just wanna get a mark d chip cuz he makes chips for cars with the 19# injectors and the m30 air flow meter.

                            That would be nice.
