    Pull engine with tranny?

    How hard is it to pull an engine out with the auto tranny still attached? If it's possible, it seems like it'd be a ton easier than dropping the tranny first. All thats left of the engine is the block though, so balancing it on the engine hoist might be difficult with all the weight on the rear.

    Of course you can pull them as one unit... much easier to reinstall them that way too.

    FYI the block and bottom end in it is 2-3x heavier then the tranny.

      Great, that saves a lot of work. Now to get everything dissconnected and ready to go.

      Didn't think the blocks were so heavy. I know auto trannies are quite heavy.

            i was surprised at how light the 5spd tranny is....one person liftable...auto trannys are way heavier...one out of an old FWD of mine was twice and heavy and half as big as the getrag!
