Re: Sepperating drive shafts
This isn't to tell you how to do it, but make sure you know that once you separate it, you will have to take it to be rebalanced.Originally posted by DigitalwaveHow is it done? To make the shipping size smaller, but also to replace the center support bearing on my new manual drive shaft. -
So to replace the CSB the driveshaft must be rebalanced?Comment

I will ask the place that I get my flywheel lightened at if they can do it. Maybe give me a deal for both :) Thanks for the help Josh.Comment

Make sure you put the two pieces back together in the exact same way they were before (mark the splines with paint) and I wouldn't worry about rebalancing it.
See the big nut shaped thing that goes around it? Take a pipe wrench or channel locks or something and loosen that. Then they'll pull apart.

I turn my sig off sometimes just so it doesn't appear over and over on the page.
Bill, that's a good idea, I will try that. If it wobbles when I reinstall it, its easy to remove to have it rebalanced.Comment

Wouldn't hurt though, escpecially if he can get it done for cheap enough. Maybe they'll give him a break since he's taking the flywheel there.Originally posted by Bill 84 318iMake sure you put the two pieces back together in the exact same way they were before (mark the splines with paint) and I wouldn't worry about rebalancing it.Comment
