removing and cleaning ICV valve

anyone got instructions or how to? Tach jumps to 2k when car is started up and stays there until car is put in gear.

You need to get an ELECTRONICS FRIENDLY spray cleaner. I can't stress enough how important it is that you get the right kind, you will kill your ICV otherwise.

what are the symptoms of a dead ICV? I cleaned mine with carb cleaner :oops:

I cleaned mine with carb cleaner too.. it was pretty clean to start with though, so it made no difference to my idle. :(

I cleaned mine with carb cleaner once... it still works fine. Now I use electronics cleaner.

Everybody says to use carb cleaner. Is electronics cleaner still believed to be neccesary or can you use carb cleaner? If so can you give the name of the electronics cleaner to be used?

I asked this question a long time ago over on 190revolution regarding the ICV on my girlfriend's 190e; they said carb cleaner is fine as long as you hold it with the electrical connector side up while you are cleaning it. Electrical cleaner would work, too.

try using intake/maf sensor cleaner. your local auto parts house should have it. if its safe enough for a mass air sensor it should be safe enough for an icv

Found electric parts cleaner at Pep Boys.

MAF/AFM cleaner is probably your best bet, it's at most auto parts stores.

You should be able to find electric parts cleaner at any auto stores. My symptom that I had when my ICV went out was bogging. Sometimes I'd get random bogging of my car and it felt scary cause seems like your car was ready to die at any moment and it goes away right away, but it did that on a regular basis until I found out what it was.
