    Installing my IE Exhaust

My Ireland Engineering exhaust comes in tomorrow and I will be installing it on Thursday if all goes as planned. IE says it is pretty much bolt in where the stock one was....so my question is: Is there anything I need to watch out for whan I'm doing this, or should it be pretty easy and self explanatory?

A friend of mine has one of these installed on his '90 325is. Its a straight-forward procedure.....everything bolts right up to the factory mounts. Before you do the install, check the condition of the rubber hanger and the hardware around the mufler straps. If they look questionable, now would be the ideal time to replace them.

its a very easy install, however, if your going to be using jack stands instead of a lift it may be tricky reaching a couple of the bolts in the clamps

yeah...those 2 rubber hangers that holding the muffler. Leave them and the upper strap if at all possible. They're a frigin' b*tch to get on.

Bring the hardware that attaches the muffler to the cats, and replace them all with stainless hardware. The ones you pull off are going to be rustier than a 90 year old whore's vag.

                Very straightforward

Very straightforward. BMA sells a kit with all the attachment parts you'll need. I'd grease up the rubber grommets that hold the cat back to the frame. It'll make them much easier to put on and position. Without the grease, it's a b*tch.

So I installed it today, and yes getting the old one off was near impossible. It took about 2-3 hours to get off since the bolts were rusty and all. Here's the bad part though....so I get the old one off and the new one fits in nice until......I got to put the stock muffler mounts around it. My mounts fit an exhaust that is 10" by 4.5" where the IE exhaust is 11" by 6.5". So I was worried the drive home from where I put it on at, but I had a freind following me and it did fine. So I think I'll call the company tomorrow and try to get them to send me some free mounts that go around the mufler area. Other than the the exhaust is exactly what I was lookin' for. It sound perfect. Not loud at all like I wanted it, but it has a beautiful sound to it. Thanks to all who advised it.

It was $445 + $45 shipping, then I payed $5 for new bolts to bolt it onto the cat. So, I need to get the mounts for the muffler witch shouldn't be too much. Total will be just under $500.

Glad you like it. Oh and I just squeezed the stock clamps around the muffler. They fit with a bit of tugging...didn't hurt anything.
