Got my converted-to-325i up to 134 mph a couple nights after we did the swap.

(Secluded stretch of higway out in the forest at 2 am, far from any cars or people...)

I would highly advise against this as the speeds you will get up to (if you can) will require you to get a cage and massive protection in case of the worst happening.

I would rather say you just get something to give you decent mileage and still allow you to scoot.

Diff ratios are of course matched with your tranny and motor setup..the 2.93 was a typical stereotypical piece of advice :!:
Don't the E36 M3's use the 2.93? Those things top out at like 170 don't they?...granted they use a completely different gearbox.
The point I was trying to make was, it depends on diff variables...trany & motor combo...m20, m30, m50, s50, CR gearbox, getrag 260 etc...

Plus I would question the accuracy of the cars' speedo or if it was running a slightly under-sized wheel/tire combo. Either of these can effect what the needle does.

I hit redline in 5th with an almost stock m20: m30 AFM/injectors, stock everything else

I havn't had the pleasure of going flatout on an airstrip, but I got to max out the 318 about 3 months after we finished the swap on I-40 near Hickory. 151-152 was the the most I saw, not sure about the C5 that was in the left lane.

I've seen more than that in Alex's car. 8)

I have gotten my 84 318i up to 110 mph. My next attempt will be in about a month after I have made sure everything is bolte in properly!

132 at the top of 4th gear with the stock 3.73 gearing

126 at the top of 5th gear with 4.10 gearing.

both runs were done on I-81 with no other traffic nearby.

145mph many times in my car when it was bone stock, and it was still creeping. I'll have to pay attention to tach only next time though, my tires are now undersized.

In an eta with 3.73lsd and a subtle mod or two. As you can see there was more room to go, I ran outta space.

I'm pretty sure my stock suspension is shot.

More room to go at 6k rpms in an eta?
