    Brake issues.

Ok, so I just bled the clutch and brakes, and took the car around the block. When bleeding the brakes, the pedal retained its pressure fine and got very, very firm. But when I was nearing the end of my block and wanted to slow down for the stop light, the pedal went to the floor and the brakes barely engaged. Messing with it again in my driveway, when the car is on and I pump the brakes, it will build pressure but then there is a hissing noise and as soon as I let of the brake it goes out again.

It seems like my vacuum booster is toast, but it was fine before I started work on the car and I don't see how I could have messed it up. Should I bleed the brakes again and see if that helps? It just seems wierd that the pedal stays firm when the car is off, but loses it when its on. I changed the brake lines and stuff so I know there was a lot of air in the system, I have bled it twice but I might not have done a sufficient job.

that will ease up, give it two weeks then decide, and get a heavy knob. I have the same lever, it was really hard, and after 2 weeks it was perfect!!! dont change it out yet. congrats on everything man, sick accomplishment, sorry I cant help you out with the brakes, bleed em' one more time, cant hurt.

I never had that issue at all. I shifted using just my wrist as I pulled away from the driveway. :?

I didn't bend anything at all on mine, I think that might have to do with it. And that the shift linkage is all new. It will probably loosen up like Dan said.

No, I removed the harmonic balancer. Its close to the drive shaft but none of the gears hit.

                    TJ-

Are you relying on just pumping the brakes alone or do you have one of those pressure bleeders at your disposal? I hear the latter helps a lot.

if the brakes build up pressure by pumping on them it's the master cylinder if they're just spongy or soft it either air in the system or a rubber hose that's flexing a lot and just hasn't burst....
