I just bought 2 Nickel-Cadmium AA batteries from Radio Shack (PN: 23-191) to replace my SI batteries and I need to get a full charge in them before i solder then onto the board. I was thinking of using my optical mouse recharger but that takes Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. I need some other options on charging these batteries other than going out and spending $40 for a charger. Anything helps...
What to use to Recharge NiCad Batteries?

Ya your suppose to recharge the batteries before you put them in, as i understand it they are basically dead until you give them a full recharge. Ya i know the NiMH charger won't charge the NiCad's.Originally posted by kylebes1I replaced mine and did not read that they had to be charged first. Well the SI board has yet to start working and my Speedo seems to be affected by this. After a few minutes of driving the speedo usually starts working
I was thinking of buying a charger...using it then returning it.Comment

Or just desolder 'em and charge them. Don't be lazy. :POriginally posted by kylebes1I know that now, but they are already sodiered to the board so I guess since I have three more boards I will try again

The board will recharge the batteries over time. I have sucessfully replaced batteries back in the day without charging them."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Re: What to use to Recharge NiCad Batteries?
You can buy off-the-shelf NiCAD battery chargers for ~$20. I got one from Best Buy to recharge my digicam batteries.Originally posted by LikeCDoosI just bought 2 Nickel-Cadmium AA batteries from Radio Shack (PN: 23-191) to replace my SI batteries and I need to get a full charge in them before i solder then onto the board.
