    Air/ Fuel Ratio gauge

I've been having hesitation problems with my 86 325es. Under normal driving conditions, especially when my motor is cold, its hesitates between 2,000-2,300rpm. Now i know this a very common problem, but i was wonder what other people have done to try and correct this as well as get your input on what i am trying. What i have decided to do is install an air/fuel ratio gauge to get a read on what my car is doing during the problem rpm zone. If its determined that mycar is running to rich i will then get a feul presure regulator and adjust accordingly or if its running to lean i will crack open the top of my MAF sensor and crank the gate. If any body has a better idea or any input let me know. please.

    E30s don't have a MAF sensor..

most AF gauges are inaccurate to the point of being useless. Unless you buy or make a true wideband sensor and gauge.

you should expect your motor to hesitate when it's cold. let it warm up before you put the pedal to the metal, the M20 has more than enough torque to take off without revving over ~2200rpm.

            I'm kicking this crap up!

Does anybody know what colour the o2 sensor wire is on the ecu. It's pin 24, but I can't read that for crap, I don't want to find the wrong pin. Oh and its the 2.7e

Are you really using a narrowband O2 signal for a gauge? Hook the gauge to the preout on your headunit, looks much cooler and its just as useful.

                Yes, actually I am. Because

                1. I need to fill the hole in my dash with something flashy that isn't a OBC that I have to punch every 5 minutes
                2. I need to figure out why my car is running so shit with a rough estimate.

So anybody know which colour the wire is?

A narrow band (ie OE) sensor is essentially worthless for diagnostic purposes. A wide band system will yield useful data, but would be much more expensive than a dyno pull, which will tell you just as much.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Does anybody actually know what colour the o2 sensor wire is? It's not in the shop manual, I know its pin 24.

Holy shit. Is this a fucking BMW forum or Volkswagen?

It's a simple question that requires a simple answer. The question was "What colour is the o2 sensor signal wire" Not "Do you guys think that I should put a narrow band o2 sensor guage in my car, if so let me know the colour of the wire, if not dick me around and give me your opinion as to whether or not it is useful or not?"

I'm pretty sure that a good amount of people in here have a useless gauge or two, for example does anyone here have a volt guage or oil pressure guage on their stock motor?

It's alright guys I figured it out.

Nice, now can I use a alligator clip to tap into that sucka or should I t into it? Or will be be the most inaccurate thing ever that has been in cars for 20+ years that I assume are the most pointless part on the car next to the brake lights.

First, how the hell do you expect to help you figure out why your car is running like shit, and second, voltage and oil pressure gauges useless? You new to the whole car thing?
