    Carbs.

I know it's not a real populer thing to do, but does anyone here runs carbs?
I've seen a picture of an M20 with carbs before.

Just wondering if anyone knows anyone online that runs them.. any links?
    Thanks.

prolly a early euro m20, those also had an adjustable distributor, much like domestics, perhaps greg or nice could chime in on this as they would see more of those then most/any of us.

I remember he cut the top half of the manifold off and welded some
      nice flanges for side drifts.
Looked awsome with 3 webers sticking stright up.
No idea what he did to the engine though,,,,

Not from factory. These were commonly found on 323i in E21 fashion here in the US but went the way of the wind as FI systems evolved in modern systems.

Unless you're running in a racing class that requires a carb setup, I don't see why anyone would prefer such a primitive method to BMW's kick-ass FI/EFI systems.

So Motronic vs Highly Tuned Carbs who wins
The dude with the stand alone or the guy with the carbs
            Same motor setup :?:
e.g Nascar motor on carbs vs stand alone

I won't swear to it but I believe Nascar is required by the rules to use carbs. Also, most of their driving is at WOT and/or in the upper RPM's. They don't give a rat's @ss about part-throttle drivability because they're very rarely at part throttle. Lastly, they don't have to troubleshoot any electronics for the carb; they just pop a new one on in the pits and GO!!!

                    skat 325is has a s14 e30 with twin webbers.

I wonder what kind of impact going to six indiviual carbs would have on the top end :)

f1 uses special fuel as well.

I would think the FI would always coem out on top.

                          Carburetors = giant fuel leaks.

I saw these micro fiber screens that are built into the intake manifold gaskets for some Chevy that increase the spread of the gas droplets, helping the mix burn more quickly creating more torque even sooner.

The cool thing about EFI is, like the m50 and its varients, you can use injectors that have the four tiny holes to get the same effect.

Many race series use "special fuel" if you define it as anything other than what you can get at the pump.
