    my car has no trunk weight.. but it probably weighed enough as it was stock.

    in any case, removing the back seat and spare tire made no difference to my times in autocross.. actually, I did a lot better with all of that shit in my car. what makes you think it's going to make a difference on the street?

      The tar is sound deadening material. it's under the rear seats, as well as under the carpet up front too. At least it's in my 89 325i. Your car will be louder, but it's not a big difference, especailly since you car gets a nice 80lb diet. I don't think putting tar in certain locations is an engineering choice, hahaha. You could design the chassis layout to be weight balanced if you were a good engineer, not just add EXTRA weight to balance the car. give the bmw engineers some credit

            yeah i found that big hunk of metal this summer while i was tryin to raise up the rear end of my car because of criticism on this board of how cabrios look dumb lowered (looks like the back is saggin etc...)

              Yeah, good thing mine is raked a bit other wise it would look like blown ass shocks and 500lbs of sand in the back
