    '87 325e, blower motor only works on 5 ??

    like the title says... blower motor only works on 5, all out haha nothing else. contacts cleanable ? need a whole module ? appreciate any help! thanks!

    Likely the blower motor resistor needs replacement. It's a weak spot on these cars.

    It lives under the blower motor cover - accessible under the hood.

      Bingo. If the motor works but only at full speed, the motor itself should still be good. I had this exact problem recently and swapping the resistor fixed it. P/n 64116912633

        To save some $$, simply clean the contacts on your old one. I use a little sand paper.
        Once that's done, it'll work like new again (all speeds available).
        My e30 is still running the same resistor since 1988.
        If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

Maybe the species that communicate with each other through a filter of your comfort are less evolved that the ones that just communicate?                 It's nothing but solid state coils. It doesn't go bad like a traditional resistor. What happens is oxidation builds up on the contacts to the point nothing works except full speed because this bypasses the resistor pack. Resurface the contacts with scouring pad, sand paper, etc. clean it all up and you'll be fine. Also clean the blower motor as best as you can since you are there.
