    M10 Coolant leak

So im going to pickup a very cheap e30 early model this weekend.

Planning on pulling the engine for something bigger eventually, however id like to use the m10 for a bit in the mean time.

The current owner says there is a coolant leak that appears to be coming from the front of the engine, the waterpump/tstat were both recently replaced, along with the heater hose on the back of the engine. He claims the oil is clean so I don't think its a head gasket issue.

Could this be a simple case of old hoses? Im not super knowledgable on m10s so any advice would be great.

Coolant neck gasket? The front intake manifold gasket also seals the coolant neck on the front of the engine where the hoses connect. The coolant could be running down from there. Also, there are a lot of cheap coolant pumps out there - could have installed a faulty one.

What exactly is the coolant neck? Do you have a part number?

It's the aluminum flange that bolts to the front corner of the head,
in line with the intake manifold.
