    Koni orange vs yellows

Decided to go with new springs and a strut and shock kit. Wanted some opinions on the Koni sports (Yellows) vs the Koni Street (orange). Car is very low because of cut springs so was honestly just gonna try some new springs first to lift it a bit but figured I might as well just go ahead with the shocks and struts too.

The yellows definitely seem better than the orange (seeing as how they’re $490 vs $196) but I really don’t know if they’re worth it for what I need. I do absolutely no tracking or racing so I need what would be the best for a nice looking and feeling, lower, daily drive. Both seem like good options but I just can’t think about spending $300 more for adjustability and what I’d hope is a better ride. Thank you for any input!

Don't buy the FST or whatever the cheap ones are called. They damp ok, but have had terrible quality control.

They ARE covered by Koni's lifetime warranty- I sent several back under that, one twice.

    The yellows are classic.

If you read in the suspension forum there are also non-E30 fitment options that can be better for your situation. Some of those options were less expensive than a set of Sports.

Seconded to not buying the STR.Ts or whatever they are calling them today.

From what i have read, the orange ones are matched for a stock suspension, stock height and such, and blow out quickly with stiffer or lower springs.
the yellows will handle being lower, and theres actually another sub set of yellows, i think they're called sport, sorry i cant rememeber for sure, which are intended for very, very low suspension. The yellows, both the shorter and regular, have adjustable rebound which is rad, and are intended to deal with low or stiff springs.

another option that costs a bit less than the koni yellows, are bilstein shocks, the rival of koni yellows. The bilsteins are not adjustable, but are still intended for a low suspension.
i would suggest that you dont even try or consider the orange koni's.

The bilsteins are the most popularly suggested shock, i think the koni yellows might be the more highly regarded shock between the two though, because of its adjustability and greater comfort at soft settings

The orange are def "stock replacement" equivalent to BS Touring. If you are lowered at all you want the yellows and if you're comparing those to BS Sports there are dozens of people including me who swapped out Bilstiens for Konis and would never go back. I'm not aware of anyone who ever went happily from koni to BS.

From my experience the STR-t's don't hold up on a street car with stock springs driven in a reasonable manner.

Bilstone certainly makes shocks. So does Monroe and KYB.
