btw, the magnets actually DO NOT stick onto the stainless steel, so the steel wasn't magnetised, it's just the magnetic field doing the work. So it doesn't matter whether the air ram is steel, cast iron, aluminum alloy or plastic.
Would it work on carbon fiber? I want an extra boost on my M3 with Group N intake.
Before it attracts any further flaming, I need to be clear here. it shud work unless carbon fiber got some anti-magnetism properties. I did it out of curiousity. you might want to try for yourself. but do secure the magnets properly. and try ur best to get strong (but small magnets) Small magnets are easy to work with.
Forummers from another website suggested harddisk magnets, but is it small? I have never disected one, so I wouldn't know...

I was going to use the tiny yet powerful magnets that amplify sounds from my grandmothers hearing aid. Who needs to hear their grandson when he gets extra horsepower?
Go put it on the dyno and then we'll see what happens. If it were that easy to make a car run better then by now the manufacturers would have high-powered electro-magnets on the intake systems, it's not like it would cost much.
Hell my Grandpa had magnets on his fuel lines in his Model A. You need to shop here so you can get some more magical engine improvers. http://www.jcwhitney.com/
If I'm a manufacturer and even I can prove that it can actually improve the power i will not be producing it cost it's so easy to copy.!!! no one will buy something that cost USD20 when I can DIY if for free. It doesn't make sense to produce something for others to copy. and not that it's rocket science. Think about that.
Anyway, something all the theories in the world may not prove how some stuff actually work. u need to actually do it to prove or disprove it.
I'm talking about the car manufacturers, not aftermarket. Don't you think if it were that easy to gain extra HP that BMW and others would add it to their cars??

Big manufacturers produce cars for the masses, every parts they put in needs to be fully tested. For a gain of 5hp or less but tonnes of testing to do, they can afford do without it. more parts, more cost, and more probable future headaches. Is it worth their time?
And furthermore, how many percentage of buyers actually appreciate that? it's not that without it, the car won't sell... Ppl will still buy even if it's not there..
anyway, I'm not here to prove a point. Neither am I going to do a dyno run because the cheapest dyno run here is RM100 (~USD 25) unless some of u are willing to sponsor that. Bear in mind, I'm only SHARING an idea and not SELLING an idea.
EDIT:
BTW, I don't think it improve top end power, I didn't feel better power at the top end. only for low to mid range. My explanation is that at high air flow rate, it'll take stronger magnetic flux to affect the air molecules... and as you all should notice by now, all manufacturers qoute the peak HP which is pretty close to the red line. so an increase in the low and mid range wouldn't reflect in the max HP quoted. Unless they start putting in the full dyno charts in their sales brochures.

u need to get a pair of the similar magnets. Place them with "attracting" (not "repelling")polarity configuration.
I honestly think he believes some of what he's saying

Oh my dear God in heaven, this is the stupidest thing I've seen in months.
First of all, no "air molecules" are going to be affected by magnets. Air is composed almost entirely of oxygen (21% by volume) and nitrogen (78% by volume) molecules, with some argon and carbon dioxide (and other trace elements and compounds) thrown in in small concentrations. Oh, and water, too, but that's technically not part of the composition of "air." (See this website for more info.) Oxygen and nitrogen are not polar molecules to begin with (so magnets have *no* effect on them), and even if they were, the other forces that act on oxygen and nitrogen molecules (Brownian motion, the random bouncing that all molecules exhibit, in particular) would near-instantly return the ordered molecules to a randomized state, *especially* in the highly turbulent flow of an engine's intake manifold. Water and CO2 are polar, but frankly it doesn't matter if they feel any pull at all from the magnets; again, they're instantly re-"randomized" by the pressure of other molecules "hitting" against them.
As always, the only way to improve the power that your engine delivers to the pavement (as far as your air is concerned) has to do with making airflow more efficient (less restricted). Magnets have nothing to do with this. Nothing, nothing, NOTHING.
If Fabian felt any power enhancement, there's a better chance that it's because he's developed telekinetic powers than because of the magnets. But in all honestly, frankly, the only power enhancement Fabian's developed is the power to OWN you guys by making you respond to his idiotic post. Good job, Fabian.
