Pulling the hood off...

I tried this and it wont work. It's tilted, not just miss aligned. I think I messed up when I put the hing back on maybe I didn't put it on correctly.

turn the rubber stoppers on the corners of the radiator support (above the headlights) in or out to adjust the height of the front corners.

soooo a 23 post thread about putting your hood back on ehh cool, It really isn't that hard people come on get over it. my little brother with no mechanical experience at all (I had to walk him through putting the brakes back together the other day even) had no trouble getting it perfect.

Another way to mark the alignment is to drill a small hole (1/8" or so) through each hinge into the hood before you unbolt anything. Then, after you put the hood back on, just put drills (or even nails would work) in the holes to align it, tighten the bolts up and you're done.

also, removing the spring-loaded bar seems like it would be terrible. i wouldn't do that unless i I wanted to replace it or couldn't avoid it

Ok, so just assume that one may have taken the whole hing off before looking on the internetz to see what the best way would be. How does one line the hood up properly? mine is way off...

Here's the way I align the hood when I put it back on:

1.) Put the hood back on the hinges with the bolts in and loosely tightened. They should be tight enough to hold the hood, but loose enough so that you can still adjust the hood position.

2.) Line the opening in the body where the hood will sit, when closed, with towels. These towels should be on the edges of the fenders and front of the windshield where the hood interfaces.

3.) SLOWLY and CAREFULLY close the hood. If you have done this SLOWLY and CAREFULLY, the hood will magically align itself.

4.) Slowly raise the hood and tighten all of the bolts.

5.) Close the hood and check the alignment.

Yeah, it takes 5 minutes to remove and 5 minutes to reinstall, but adjusting takes a little while sometimes. I guess you could make match marks on the screws or something to make life easier, but I can never find a paint marker while I'm in the garage!

There's an easy solution. Use a can of spray pain (any color) to mark the outline of where the hinge pads are before removing the hood. Or scribe a line around the hinge pads. Match that up when re-mounting the hood and it will adjusted to the same position as when you removed it.

Thats what Im thinking, but thats why I figured if I pulled off the sprung tensioner it would be lined up when I put it back lol.
