    BMW M3 Engine Identification

Does anyone know how to ID a e36 M3 engine? I do know of the markings on the center/drivers side between the oil pan and the tranny but was not able to check since the engine is not in my possession as of yet. The seller did give me some misc. numbers which are:

    11.671744250

    and

    0375

If anyone can shed some light on this it would be most appreciated!!!

There will be a VIN number on a thin metal plate on transmission side of engine in the back on the head. Sometimes this can go missing though. One other sure place to find true identification is found on the block right by the driver side engine mount arm (firewall side).

-Read that number to BMW dealership and they will be able to identify the engine
