Any reason not to put 225/50/15s on a stock M3?

I am thinking of putting 225s on my stock 15" weaves. Is there any reason why I should stay with stock size tires?

The E38 Style 5s with new Direzzas may be up for sale soon...

I think you will be fine with 225/50/15's...205/50/15 is the stock size as I recall, so this is a common upgrade...just a little wider tread width. When I bought my car the spare in the trunk on a stock wheel was the 225.

I can't say for sure you won't have any rubbing, but I doubt it will be an issue as the offset of the stock wheels is ET30...they are pushed inward enough to allow for alot of fender clearance.

I run 225/45/15s on my stock wheels. No issues here.

It appears that only R comps are available in 225/45 - I'm looking for a summer tire, somthing predictable...

            Stock is 205/55/15.

The 225/50/15 would keep the same overall height as stock but run wider of course.

They'll definitely look beefy on the stock M3 wheels!

I run RA1's on my Revolution in 15x8 and some Kumho in 225-50 on stock baskets and they work fine even on a lowered M3. No issues enjoy the lighter weight wheels, not much point to go with bigger diameter other than aesthetics.

RA-1s are GREAT street tires, for what it's worth. Their temp range is, honestly, probably wider than the Z1, they are surprisingly quiet, and they are great in the wet. Tread wear is also good.

Thanks for correcting me on the stock tire size...obviously, I don't run stock...:-) But, I do recall the 225/50 being about the same height as the stock 205/55.
