    Is this right? (subframe bushings)

I put the subframe back in my car this morning, and there seems to be all these gaps where flex/play would come in. This is with the car resting on jackstands on the subframe, with all of weigt of the car on it, and I even reinstalled the bottom brackets and torqued the big nut down. That big washer has free play, and the bottom doesn't look that tight. What's the deal?

Is that top small bushing supposed to go up into the car? I can't get it to.

I can't remember, but I think I threw that little disk away when I put mine in. which bushing kit do you have? I'd ask the people you bought it from, they'd know for sure.

      RTRS stuff from bmwbushings.com

Apparently, that washer from an E30 M3 is much, much thicker and I have heard its a good upgrade for rear end stiffening, I just don't have time to get a pair before I finish all this.

that is correct, digitalwave. The top looks like it needs to go in more, it leads me to believe that the bolt inside your bushings was not spaced correctly. Anyways, yes, there is supposed to be a gap between the plate and the bushing, and the urethane top piece will not go in all the way, but it looks like it still has a few mm's left.

Edit: After looking at the pic again, the bottom is a little close to the plate, and the top is a little too far out.

Top should go all the way in and there is supposed to be a little space from the bottom rubber to the holding plate at the bottom

I just put in Poly from IE and they fit snuggly and tight everywhere no space for free play
, I tightened that thing up real nice as I am not replacing them again :)

Did you jack up the subframe before you put the bolts in?
I think you should tighten in more :)
