    Metallic rattling noise up front

Recently there has been a pretty loud clanking noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger's side every once in awhile when I hit a bump. It's completely random when it happens, like it's not only with big bumps or only small ones. I had thought that it was the wheel bearing which needed replacing anyway but after I did that the noise is still there. I checked out all the ball joints and tie rod ends and they are all in pretty good shape so i'm stumped.

Also I have a nasty shimmy up front after replacing the wheel bearing, i'm thinking it's the rotor or caliper.

    Any ideals would be appriciated.

Yea I still have the spring pads in. It's much louder than just a metal rubbing though.

Check the collar that holds the strut into the strut tube. When mine loosen they rattle a bit.
