    Lots of annoying clunking.

At low speeds when shifting i can hear some clunking coming from the rear, it is also just some general clunking when going over bumps, etc.

can anyone guess what is causing this? i'm pretty sure my suspension is just plain shot, i actually wanna redo the whole front end and rear stuff.. can i get a shopping list plz?

edit: jack is secure, and i'm pretty sure my spare is secure as well.

sounds like your diff bushing could be shot.

I'd blame the clunking noise on your subframe bushings/diff bushing.

Complete list of stuff to replace:

      Front:
      Control arms
Control arm bushings (M3 offset rubber bushings are a good upgrade)
      Tie rod assemblies
      Upper strut mounts
      Sway bar bushings and links

      Rear:
      Subframe bushings
      Trailing arm bushings
      Differential bushing
      Rear shock mounts
      Sway bar bushings and links

Also, the little rubber boot on my steering rack is very slowly leaking red fluid (front right).. The boot's been turn in half by something, (but looks fairly clean cut, so it might have been the previous owner?) I guess now would be a good time for a m3 steering rack or somethign?

the red stuff is ATF.. and it's not supposed to be in the boots. your seals are leaking, and your rack needs rebuilt. if it's not too bad you can probably just use some stopleak on it for a while. the boots are just to keep dust out..

where can i get some of this magical stopleak, and where should it be applied to specifically? I'm not quite sure the best way to locate the leak.

I am almost definate that the clunking is your top rear strut bushing. After time they compress and lose there elasticity. Pull out the boot lining and have a look if it is them.

I had the same problem bugged me for ages before i bothered to look, if you dont get around to it you can seriously injure where your rear struts mount in the boot.

Check your diff mounting bolts as well... mine was making some strange noises, and it turned out the front two were missing. Heh, I guess that's what I get for running stiff-ass suspension.
