Are braided SS lines worth the upgrade?

I'm looking at getting some Goodridge brake and clutch lines for my E30 318i off of ebay and I'm wondering, is it worth it? I'm looking to get better feel and response from my brakes and also my clutch.

I kinda got those responses from some other friends I asked after posting this thread too.
Guess it's probably more worthwhile for me to look at replacing my rear drums with discs first haha. I don't track this car, it's just my DD.

The rubber lines last longer than SS ones? I was under the impression that if the SS lines had a protective plastic coating or something over the braids (to prevent dirt from getting in to abrade the inner tubing as the braid moves) then they would be just as durable.

if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

seriously, I wish I would have left my IE SS lines alone. I replaced them with UUC lines, which are way too long, and now I have zip ties and all sorts of contraptions to keep them from rubbing on my front tires.

the difference in pedal feel is negligable. It won't hurt, but if there's nothing wrong with your old lines, you can skip the pain of replacing them, especially the ones above the rear subframe.

Unless of course you get one of the 4 line kits (like Goodrich?) but then you have 4 SS lines and 2 OEM rubber lines...

I just went with SS lines because they were the same price and I figured it couldn't hurt with all of the autoX and the few HPDE events my car sees. Can't really tell a difference, though.

OK, so I guess this is one of those things you only do when you have to replace your old lines.

nando: If I get a 6 line kit, I will still only be using 4 lines since my rears are drums. Although as mentioned, I might probably look at getting discs sometime later.

                          .
Sounds like maybe you got the wrong fronts? I got e36 ones and they sent me the right ones, no zipties, no rubbing anywhere. Yours this long? Rubber is OE e30 line, blue is e36.

that does look a lot like what I have, but I'm not sure. do they look the same other than the length?

all I know is the IE lines they replaced were a good 2" shorter. they also fit perfectly..

When I ordered the SS from UUC the fronts were very long. They were the wrong ones, call them up and they will send you new ones.
