IE TABs are squeaking

    IE TABs are squeaking

    Is it the bushing squeaking on the TA? Or the bolt on the sleeve?

    I think its the bolt on the sleeve. My dad had a similar issue on his car with the powerflex TABs and some marine wheel bearing grease solved it.

        You mean bolt and bushing sleeve? You can't lube between the bushing and bushing sleeve.

          Oops , yes thats what i meant. A freind of mine used to work at IE, says they take more lube than they give you

            Ken, do you by any chance have larger sway bars? Just talked with my dad and he said it was actually the ST Rear sway bar mount making noise. Maybe check that, or even the stock mounts if they are fresh.

              No, stock rear bar with all recent bushings.

              Definitely the TABs squeaking.

                the noise is the bushing itself rubbing inside the trailing arm sleave. You obviously didnt use enough lube when installing them. Mine hardly make a noise and I used copperized grease. They will make noise very rarely but its tolerable. It sucks but if you dont like the noise you need to re-grease them.

                  Reviving an old thread...

                  Why aren't urethane trailing arm bushings a press-fit like OEM? I don't understand why they need to be lubed between the bushing and the the trailing arm bore to start with, isn't the suspension pivoting at the bolt/bolt sleeve interface??

                    They're not as tight of a fit as the rubber OEM ones bc you can't compress urethane like that. They just slide into the TA by hand.

                    BTW mine still squeak.

                      The motion will be between the sleeve and bushing. When the bolts are tight the sleeve will be locked to the trailing arm mounts on the subframe.
                      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                        Anyone ever waffleswaffleswaffles zerks on the trailing arms?

                        Where's the best place to put it?

                        I'm leaning towards going with urethane, just want some insurance against squeaking...
