First off try not by mexican referbuished master cylinders. Second, if my master cylinder has filled (not completely) with brake fluid would the diaphram be damaged by that. And what should I do other than drain it to fix it.

Hell I agree with that from my one experience with a rebuilt Mexican waterpump (my broken one) that didn't work at all so I had to immediately replace it. Damn thing barely got me 50 miles.

Wow, that is a bummer. At least I got through a couple of months. By the way, this last master cylinder is the thrid mexican rebuild I had to replace. Tight money got me into this neverending pattern of failing master cylinders, the parts store replaces them every time they crap out and now I bought myself a brand new one. The situation is the old one did a wonderful job of pumping the brake fluid into the brake booster. Super. Now I'm wondering if it damaged any of the insides of the booster, i.e. the diaphrams. I siphoned out the fluid in it and cleaned it out the best I could since they are non-servicable. Brake experts said there wans't a way to tell if anything was damged so now I'm asking E30 experts. Damn I hate doing brake work!Originally posted by parkerbinkHell I agree with that from my one experience with a rebuilt Mexican waterpump (my broken one) that didn't work at all so I had to immediately replace it. Why would you want to buy a rebuild waterpump if you can have anew one for like $30-35 from Europe.
It's like buying used rear wheel bearings... Wait, no that's not as bad. 8) You get the point. Considering how much time it takes to get down there to replace it just get a good part.Comment

I broke down where there are no BMW parts in Mexico, had only these choices: Rebuild it, leave the car, burn out the motor.
It was my plan to get it re-replaced in Laredo but I didn't make that far. I also ended up getting a new radiator because the transmission oil cooler in mine was somehow damaged.
