soapy water didnt do shit for me. I used white lithium grease.
I wouldn't use lithium grease - it doesn't evaporate. This could lead to the bushing binding to a position on the control arm where there's some preload.
I've found that some dish washing soap and hot water does the trick. You just have to get the bushing barely started and it should slide on with one or two blows of a hammer on a deep socket on the bushing.
If the control arm is being reused its also a good idea to clean up the end with some fine sand paper.

If it doesn't evaportate how will it bind? And if it does evaporate, how will it bind in a preload? If it decides to bind when the control arm is hanging there after I take my car off of a jump?
either way a big hammer didnt do shit we finally got them on
long threaded bar bent in half through the first hole. put some square tubing with holes in it and kept tightening the bolts till it was on good

Sorry if I wasn't blatantly obvious...
Unlike soapy water lithium grease won't allow the control arm bushing to set to the control arm in a reasonable amount of time before you drive the car - e.g. 24 hours.
I'm sure the lithium grease will eventually get absorbed by the rubber / burnt up - I don't know. If the bushing binds as the suspension travels which is likely - you now have some preload on your control arm bushing.
This isn't anything new and is why most writeups / Bentley tell you to get the car off jackstands and let it stand for awhile before taking it for a drive.
