autohausaz has knock-offs for like $50 a side, but the girling ones are 3x the price. Has anybody done any actual testing to see if the $50 ones are worth their weight at all?

I don't feel like rebuilding my old calipers if the $50 per side actually work and won't fail under hard use with track pads? The front passenger side sticks and coats my wheel with more brake dust than the front driver side...

I just bought the ones off of BMA, all four of them. They brand they use is the same that pelican and bavauto use. I found some info and they take an oem caliper and clean it and put in all new parts. Hopefully it holds up on the track.

rebuild for the win. It is super easy. But! before you go off and buy a seal kit, pop the pistons out and make sure they are in good shape.
I don't always wreck cars, but when I do I wreck them into trees.

the ones I got are just rebuilt OEM calipers. I don't think they're going to make all new castings for $50 a peice!

We can also supply rebuilt ones. We have pricing with core deposit or without.

They just take the core returns and clean the piss out of them.

Forgot the method name but they throw them in a solution and run a current/voltage through it. This removes microns of material from the surface and make them squeaky clean.

There's an at-home DIY of this somewhere but I can't find it.

              edit: it's called Electrolysis

They do more then just clean it. They also replace the seals and check for damage, pressure test, amother other things. This is the brand I bought, read all about it.

I was just explaining the cleaning that they do. :P

I've been driving my e30 on the weekends with reman'd calipers from rockauto.com and nothing wrong has happened.

I got my bma remans put on. Very glad I went that route instead of rebuild it myself. The bma units looked really nice, new pistons, new seals, etc. Two of my calipers were apparently sticking and all were really rusted and awful looking. My braking is nice and even once again!

$148 for all four. Core charges were $130 though, which sucks.
