    Bello brake kit

I've heard about Ernie Bello's BBK for 4-lug E30's, it's simply a larger rotor (11") and a bracket to relocate the stock caliper. Anyone tried this, or heard anything about it? I'm wanting to upgrade my 4lug brake system without spending big bucks.

        Stu,

My father is close friends with Erine... I wanted to sell them but noone was interested... price wise it was around $1k.. which can buy the IE kit... it uses a Dodge caravan caliper/rotor and a custom bracket..... he said it bites like a mother though...

Good question as to which I don't know either... this is what came from Bello when I spoke to him about using Corrado calipers (this is like in the late 80s and early 90s) so this is really old school stuff...

I don't know how much Stu is getting it for... but if you put a caliper that was made for a 4klbs mini-van... on a 2500lb car, that is a good system.... then again there are others out there for the same price...

Plus: Stu I don't think it would be a good idea to increase the rotor size without increasing the caliper size.. your pads would wear unevenly too...

I talked to Ernie and it uses some Caravan rotor, a bracket, and an E30 M3 caliper. Everything else is stock and it is supposed to work fine iwith a 15" wheel. I don't have much other info right now.

doesn't sound that bad. I bet most of the cost is in the custom bracket..

the IE kit doesn't exactly turn my crank either. those two peice-drilled rotors would be very expensive to replace!

I think if you are going to spend the money on larger brakes you may as well do a 5 lug swap at the same time.. it might even cost less.

Brackets can be machined for about $40-60 a pair.

My full cost for 5 lug with giant brakes was:

                        $1200 5lug and brake parts
                        -$450 for my MM11-2's
-$250 4x stock calipers & ATE Powerslots (powdercoated)

                        Total
                        $500

Stu, how are you trying to upgrade your brakes?? Stopping distance, or fading resistance?

If you are wanting to upgrade for the track, and thinking a larger heatsink (rotor) is the way to go, why not try real ducting with Bimmerworld's kit?

And Jordan, hate to break it to you, but selling of assests are still considered costs, even if you didn't have to bring in additional cash in excess of $500.

doesn't matter, even if he didn't subtract those costs it was still cheaper than getting a front and rear 4 lug BBK.

i'm just saying it is misleading to say that was the cost....

and who needs a rear BBK?

                              anyway..... Stuart: cooling ducts.
