How do you take off a stripped Hex screw holding the rotors?

    How do you take off a stripped Hex screw holding the rotors?

    the hex screw holding on my rear rotors are completely fffffffed. Is there any possible way to get them off? i just sat,stared at the rotor and put my head down out of sadness when i say this....please help me be happy again!...and if no one knows of a solution..i might just replace the entire trailing arm and rotors.

    I usually drill them out then after taking the rotor off you can remove it with some vice grips and wd40

      Drill it out.

            Sure will, gonna see what else i can buy from them, i was only going to change out the wheel bearings but since everything is basically going to be off might as well replace some things....solid trailing arm and subframe bushings, solid diff mount, new axles...might get coilovers soon, replace diff fuild and gasket.

                  This may be easier for me as I have no backing plates. I drilled off the head of the screw so there was a stub to grab with vice grips.
                  I was also doing rotors and I pouned them off with a 3lb hammer.

                    How to prevent this problem: replace these little fuckers when doing brakes and don't overtighten them, nominal torque is like 18 ft-lbs and they're held in by the wheel anyway. Put anti-seize on them, too.

                      Autozone sells bolts that are meant to replace the ones that hold the two pieces of your brake caliper together, but they fit like the set screws only with a hex head that is easier to remove. Drill out your stuck ones and then replace them with these or just don't use any once you remove the bad ones.

                      Using the caliper bolts only works if your wheels are recessed in the area that goes over the set screw hole. My wheels are but my spacers aren't so until I can carve out some room in them I am running no set screw

                          I use antiseize, and don't overtighten them.

                          I've reused the same set screws for the past 5+ years. I have new ones but there's been no reason to replace them.

                          pretty sure the torque is 18 in-lbs, not ft-lbs. you can overtorque these with your pinky.

                              I ended up using a really small trox socket gave it a few love taps and unscrewed it. Heard these arent necessary to keep on there, the lug bolts keep the rotors in place.
