    whats the trick???

OK after searching for awhile I cant find any thing.

How the hell do you get the front shock nut tight? the on that sits down in the strut bearing, you know the one that holds the strut togeather. I cant get it too tighten down to where it need to be, because I have no way to turn the nut and keep the shock shaft from turning.

    thanks

Put the car on the ground, and hold the nut with something like a big screwdriver or needle nose pliers and rotate the shaft of the shock to tighten that nut.

If he is asking this question... I am sure he has an impact gun to use. And my impact tightens it in .02 seconds. Suck on that one.

Not supposed to use an impact with Konis by the way. Voids the warranty.

Will, go to sleep, kids time is over. You don't even have an impact.

Well since I'm pretty sure we are talking about a solid piston Bilstein/Boge type deal, I don't think its an issue.

I wouldn't use a Impact on an adjustable shock as it would potentially wreck its shit.

Yes I have an impact, is a ingersoll 2135Ti good enough?
All it dose is spin the shock shaft also, this is why I asked the question

Not nessesarily, I had the same issue with my mom's E36 when I put new shocks on her car. Sometimes the impact wrench would just spin the shaft too.

                    It's easy as pie..

What I did was I had a friend hold the shaft of the shock piston with one of those jar opening grippy pads (you know.. that non slip rubbery material)while I turned the bolt with my ratchet as soon as you start to notice that it's tightening up keep the momentum up to make sure you get the bolt nice and snug.

I used two people, two strap wrenches, and a clicker type torque wrench. Done off the car. Shade-tree all the way.

I never had any trouble doing mine with the car on the ground, didn't have to hold the shaft at all. oh well..
