    Troutman SS Brake Lines

Anyone have experience with these? BMA is selling these and are apparently DOT-approved.
Are all brake lines more or less the same, and prices are basically reflective of whether if they are DOT-approved or not?

    Thanks

I'm not sure the DOT approval makes much difference, aside from maybe peice of mind. 4 years on IE non DOT-approved lines and I've had no trouble (I also check up on them once in a while for signs of fraying).

Yeah, I'm not wanting DOT-approved for product superiority reasons but rather the fact that I will be safe with insurance if problems ever arise.
Like you said, it's a good piece of mind to have in such situations.

I had never heard of Troutman, so I want to see if anyone had anything to say about them.

I wonder if DOT recognition matters in Canada I should look into that too.

Dot approval makes a difference if you get into an accident due to a failure of a part. Insurance won't cover you unless you have proper parts etc.

Do you know if Dep of Transportation approval applies to Canadian insurance too? Or do we have our own approval system?

How can you tell the DOT lines from the non? Are there markings printed on them? I have non-DOTs, they are just dandy.

You can't really, but insurance companies are whores, and will do all in their power to not pay you if they can't. Its just my advice as a service tech myself to go with something that is D.O.T approved. T.U.V approved is FAR better in my opinon but not in the insurance eyes, i'm not saying only get D.O.T stuff its just in the case that you run into problems with insurance this may void your insurance.
