motor mounts not lining up with subframe.

and i'm running out of daylight.

i have no idea what to do. i took my subframe off and everything was where it was supposed to go.
do you guys know what trick i need to do to align them?

i tried lifting the engine more but that just pulls it away.
    thanks in advance!

The motor mounts are at an angle to the subframe, so the engine won't just drop in. You engage the motor mount stud on one side and then lever the engine over while lowering to get the other side in. This is easier to manage if the motor mounts are on the subframe, not on the engine brackets. And just starting the motor mount nuts on subframe helps.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

okay so install the subframe, put the motor mounts on, then lower the engine only on one side onto the bolt on the motor mount, then the other? i know your answer was probably perfect but I'm over thinking it. (thanks a LOT by the way jlevie!)
and i don't think i have enough play in my engine to do this. i cant move it side to side, just lift it up and down. I'm using an engine hoist. and i only detached my subframe. should i detach something else to get get more movement?

for more detail; the bolt is BARELY on the subframe, and BARELY on the engine bracket, so it's almost there but it's at an angle so it's not going in.

That is the basics. You will have to use a pry bar to push the engine toward the engaged mount to line up the other side. There is enough resilience in the motor mounts for this to work. This is easiest to accomplish with a helper. One person pries while the other works the hoist.

+1 for what Jim said. It took me and a friend a whole evening to get new mounts on my car. 90% of that was trying to fit the new ones because they had much longer studs than the stock ones.

did you bolt motor mount onto engine bracket, then lower the bracket onto subframe, or put the motor mount on the subframe, and lower the bracket?

It can be done either way, but it is much easier to see what you are doing when prying the engine over with the mounts bolted to the subframe.

                  yup, just takes some finagling.

I generally put the mounts on the subframe, put a nut on them very loosely, have someone else lower the cherrypicker while i hold the mount in place and get one side on, the stud, then go to the other side and repeat. I can do it by myself now...

I did this all with a low profile jack and I was by myself. It took a total of 5 minutes to line both the mounts up
