Ungh. Should I dump the $ for 5 lug.

OK so I would like more brakes, as I will have a bit more power when I put the motor back in, but that's not the issue here. (as it's jsut my daily driver, I have a track-specific car)

I don't want puny brakes with 17" wheels. And I will be getting 16s or 17s at some point.

Should I ball out and go 5 lug on the touring? Or is there a less expensive brake upgrade to stay 4 lug?

I think I've convinced myself to go 5 lug, wheel choice being another advantage. just looking for some support.

Stay 4 lug. Get one of IE's kits.

I would stay away from the IE kit if they haven't addressed the flimsy bracket provided in the kit. Someone on the forums (forgot who) had a bracket failure w/ the IE kit

another reason 5 lug is appealing to me is that I have to buy wheels anyway.

You want larger rotors because of esthetics?

            aesthetics.

i want more brakes cause i'll have more power, but i also don't want puny brakes sticking through my wheels.

the reason im not overly concerned is e30s have good stock brakes.

              Doesn't Wilwood make a 4-lug BBK?

I was under the understanding that esthetic itself referred to a philosophical perspective, moreso

most of the bbk's i've seen are around ~$1k for everything. Whereas a 5 lug upgrade would be about the same cost, and have a plethora of wheel options.

lol I can spend $2k on wheels, or $1k on brakes and $1k on wheels.

I dunno. I'd like brakes if I were to be spending the money

good pads + stock rotors + ATE flud = good brakes

what are you doing, turbo S50? an M20 stroker isn't going to have *that* much more power that you'll be constantly overpowering your brakes. you aren't going to track your car anyway, are you? besides, that "euroh" touring is just dying for the wheels to match it..

yea that's what I'm saying. that's a big influence for this decision; wheel options. I was about to drop $2k on rims, but then realized I could drop 1k on 5 lug and 1k (maybe a bit more) on wheels, and have a lot more options.

it already has pbr's, and brakes quite well. that's what I'm saying, it doesnt need a brake upgrade, but it would allow more wheels, plus if i stay 4 lug 17s with these puny brakes will look plain goofy

                        here's an example

not that i would get those wheels, but you get the idea

well if there's a specific wheel in 5 lug that you want and can't get in 4 lug, then go for it. otherwise it's a waste of money IMO. and I agree that 17's with stock E30 brakes look dumb, but you can still do a BBK in 4 lug.

of course as far as BBS RS's go, really it's my own desire for these wheels that's telling you to get them. do what you like ;)

lol. i'm just saying i can spend $2k on 4 lug wheels and $1k on 4 lug bbk, so total ~$3k

or $1k on 5 lug ~$1k on wheels, so total
                            ~2k

                              I don't get why 4 lug wheels are $2k and 5 lug are $1k?
