When my CAB blew up the control arm was flopping around inside by about 1/8th of an inch causing a knocking noise at the beginning when accelerating or braking, maybe something to look at? These were urethane ones where the sleve pushed out the back because I accidentally had them in backwards and it was metal knocking on metal but I suppose it could do the same thing with other styles if they were egged out.

Yeah, definitely check the sway bar links. Also, when I had this problem, Jordan recommended that I check to see if a gland nut was loose.

If both of the ball joints are tight make sure the gland nut on the top of the strut is TIGHT.

ive checked the gland nut a few times, its definitely not loose, but i cant test if i can get it any tighter without taking the spring out afaik

gland nut holds the shock in place in the strut, correct
the top nut is tight i believe and i dont want to over tighten it

collar holding shock in strut FTW,
got a pair of channel locks around it and got 2-3 turns on it... yeah it was loose
