Just a bit of background, swapping an Ls1 into my 88 325is, car is planned to be a full restore. Id like to get rid of the stock ABS and replace it with something different. In virginia, can i legally pass safety inspection with manual brakes?? given this is going to be a street driven car id like to get another abs setup but dont know where to begin... OR should i just stay with manual brakes as i mentioned before? advice is appreciated, please dont diss on the idea, just need more info as i move forward

You could upgrade to the e36 system it's 4channel instead of 3 and has been done and documented before if your looking to switch to anything besides the stock e30 abs this is the route I would look atShawn @ Bimmerbuddies

All that said, you can go to manual brakes and keep the E30 ABS unit. It's a perfectly good system when you have new sensors and a decent wiring harness. Retrofitting a newer system is not going to gain you much, short of the mk60 standalone system (which might cost as much as your LS swap).2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
