    Complete ABS delete

    Before people say why do it? I want to clean up my engine bay, and I do know the pros and cons of keeping ABS.

    Has anyone completely deleted their ABS? Is it possible to use OEM lines from BMW to delete the ABS?

    There are tons of threads on this very subject. Use the Advanced search feature, plug in "ABS Delete" and choose "Search Titles Only".

      You know, I have. And there's nothing conclusive. Most just say bend your own lines, or why do you want to delete ABS?

        Actually, I didn't know.

        I did the exact search I gave you and found 3 different solutions for accomplishing it on the very first page of results.

          I bought lines from BMW but they don't come bent. They are just the correct length, with flares and fittings already done. You need to buy the rear T-fitting that comes with the car and split the front lines with that unless you master cylinder has an extra port that is blocked off (some do) , then run a new rear line straight down to the stock rear line.

            I completely deleted my abs, I just bought a roll of brake line and did everything new. Haven't had any issues yet

              That works too. Just make sure to get a decent bubble flare too, and do a good job on the flares. I think I got my flare tool off of Amazon

                I tied my lines together under the hood with a straight union for the line that goes to the rear brakes and a tee for the front lines. Took a little bit of bending but got the job done just fine. If you're trying to clean up the engine bay and are planning on replacing all the lines I'd look into using copper brake line, its easier to flare, harder to kink when bending and won't rust later on down the road. And +1 for getting a decent bubble flare kit too, fought with an AutoZone loaner kit for a while before I wised up.

                  Without abs can you guys lock up the front brakes?
                  I'm asking because sometimes when I press on the brakes a little too hard the wheels will just lock up.
                  My abs isn't working but it's there.

                      I'm no automotive mechanic, but aren't copper lines for fuel only?

                      If you're that worried about lines rusting, start with good quality lines with proper corrosion resistance, and paint them.

                        He's talking about copper-nickel brake lines. They are meant for brakes (and other automotive plumbing uses).

                          I've had my abs deleted for a few summers now. No problems. It does however turn on the warning light on the dash. I've seen the question asked about getting it turned off but can't find any answers. Anyone know how to turn off the dash light after removing the abs system?

                            Pull the bulb.

                            And as noted above, you need to bend new lines to fit. OE will not be bent. I strongly recommend buying a roll of the copper-nickel alloy and bending to fit. It bends easily, and you can cut to the correct length AFTER you have bent the lines.
