    Addressing my no e-brake issue

I own a 84 which came from the factory with drum brakes in the back, but maybe 2 POs ago it got late model trailing arms with rear discs. The car has never had a functioning e-brake since Ive owned it and Im thinking after nearly 3 years of ownership, I should maybe take a look.

I never bothered because this car has been missing a lot of random things either to save weight or because they never bothered to when they brought it back to life. Anyways, I know there isnt any cables, so for sure I need to get those, but how much do I need to remove to know for sure whether or not the e-brake drums are back there??

Obviously, the rear wheel needs to come off, but then what? Rear caliper and disc? Is there a lazy way to check?

This is my daily so it cant be a mission where I tear a bunch of stuff apart, then need to go get parts while the car is up in the air.

    Ideas?
    Simon

When you remove the wheels and look behind the brake discs and dust shields you should be able to see the ebrake shoes

Just remove a lug bolt and look inside for the adjuster wheel, if its there it probably has shoes too. Also behind the back plate you'll see the hardware pins in place.

LOL simon, i just did my conversion and i've rebuilt it twice in the last 2 weeks since i'm missing correct size pins for the the cables... hit me up, we can strip it down and put it back together easily to evaluate what you have and don't have. super easy man.

4 lugs, 2 caliper bolts, 1 rotor hold down screw, and your looking at everything...

Hooray!!! ONE e-brake cable on the way. I was under the impression that there was two cables, but on realoem it shows one bowden cable coming off the handbrake lever.

I have no reference except my mk1 VW and that had two cables, so I was under the impression that this did too, but not seeing anything to support that

                      Glen you ready for this??

so... I was under the car looking at my failing wheel bearing and noticed a cut ebrake cable sticking out :hitler: this will probably be a MAJOR bitch to do...

Of course there are two cables. =P It's pretty straightforward though.
