So after overhauling the front suspension and rebuilding all 4 calipers I decided to put in New trailing arm bushings, subframe bushings and a new diff bushing. Everything was going semi smoothly until it came down to getting the subframe bolts out. I was pounding away for for about half an hour and it didn't even budge. What are some tips to get it out or do I need to just suck it up and keep hammering away

Have you looked at anyone of the metric ton of threads for this?
This guide assumes you are not using the below tool; as the the tool allows for the removal and installation of the rear subframe bushing without needing to drop the rear subframe (but works just as well if you do). https://www.rtsauto.com/e30-rear-subframe-bushing-tool-for-removal-and-install/ Supplementary guide for trailing arm bushings: https://www.rtsauto.com/the-easy-way-to-remove-and-install-e30-trailing-arm-bushings/ This is a step by step -

I've seen threaded rod through the bushings, and make a slide hammer that way. It seems to be a beast to yank it out... have fun.
YouTube te E30source vid on this, too. Super guy for doing those very informative videos. He a r3v'er?Comment

What kind of hammer are you using? Use a 5lb sledge hammer.
Spray some wd-40/PB blaster in the hole below your rear seat where the bolt will be coming up.Your resource to do-it-yourself and interesting bmw and e30 stuff: www.rtsauto.com

Place nut on the end of the bolt so that it's flush then hammer away with mini sledge. Hopefully it's not seized too bad."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

I was using a 4lb rubber mallet and then a regular carpenter's hammer. I'll buy the hammer tomorrow and see if it works it or not. Btw I've been following your guide throughout the process so thank you for all the information, it's saved me a lot of time and frustration lolComment

A rubber mallet isn't going to cut it then. You need something with some mass behind it."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

So I switched to this to see if the bolts would pop out?
I decided to check in the car to see if the bolt moved and then I noticed this. I never saw it before since i was working with almost no light
Has anyone had this before?!?!?! Sorry couldn't upload the pics kept running into an errorComment

I put a drill to it and started to remove the hardened rubber or whatever it is, which came out like this
for the other i used a flathead and it came out wayyyyy cleaner, after this the bolt jumped right out!!
Thanks everyone for the help!Comment
