what about a metallic spinning noise? could it be a wheel bearing or could it be the metal backing shield rubbing against the rotor or something?

        DaveCN,
You called it, it was the left rear bearing. Bought a couple of bearings from BMA for about $30. each, took it to my mechanic and he replaced the left bearing. $210. bucks later...smooth as silk with no whoomp, whoomp or vibration. Thanks for everybody's posts

That's it ??? $210 for the bearing labor?

How many hours does that turn out to be?

          (this question is for anybody)

WTF.. Why all the moved threads from General Tech?

I certainly don't consider it a specific Brakes, Subframe or Arm problem.

            Someone is getting move happy.

I would say it belongs in the engine & drivetrain forum (transmission and driveline subforum)

                we have a winner..

this turned out to be a bad rear u-joint in my driveshaft...

                whodathunk>?

one new driveshaft later... smooth ride.. (the new shocks and springs help too)
