    E30 x-brace: does it exist?

is there such thing as an e30 x-brace, like those commonly sold for e36's? I heard once that they came on the cabrios, but i have also heard there is no such thing. If they are out there, i thought it might be a good way to help stiffen up the chassis.

        Seriously?

Yes, it does. It also requires a fudge factor since you are making newer E36 parts fit on an older E30.

For all the work the x-brace is, wouldn't it be a lot easier just to tack-weld your front subframe in spots easy to cut with a die grinder if you need to pull it for work?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

xbrace will protect your oil pan and allow you to easily unbolt it if you need to

but an E36 x-brace doesn't go under the oil pan in an E30. E30 oil pans are in front of the subframe.

Yup, he did. E36 M3 x brace installed on his car, I think he just had to drill a couple new holes.

If memory serves, it was a tight fit, took some trimming and a few holes drilled in the floor pan/tranny hump.

BTW - I get really annoyed when people call it (pronounce it) a "X-brace" like it some f-ing starwars product...It's Called a "Cross-brace"...

Shorthand for typing a description is "x-brace" to make room.

I can spot a newbi a mile away when they ask about the "x"-brace...

So X-brace in an email = good - calling it a "X-brace" out loud = bad...

                      Questions? HTH..

                      Good...move on..

I was thinking about doing the same thing...why not? worse case is I loose the $20 it cost to get it from the wreckers.
