I'm not one to turn down money normally but it wouldn't be worth it to you by the time I get it made and shipped. Just take the drawing to a reputable machine shop, tell them to use 4340 or 4140 steel and you're good to go. But if you have an ABS car first make a template out of cardboard and lay it up - you may need to notch it a bit for the sensor, I'm not 100% sure (it wasn't a concern for me).

This is great work indeed and another alternative to e30 owners for improved/decent brakes on their car. As Big D mentionned a few months earlier, it takes time and commitment (and a few good connections) to produce a pair of brackets. And as not everyone has the ability or time to produce such brackets, then some people make them in a batch. Not many yet have stepped in and are producing brackets for RX7 calipers. I guess it is still okay that someone is producing off-the-shelf brackets for Dynapro calipers and Corrado discs. e30s are between 26 and 18 years old and it remains a miracle that some aftermarket suppliers still make parts for that car.

Thanks man. I appreciate the kudos but it wasn't my intent to take business away from Lee. But like he said above, unless someone's willing to go make the brackets, this isn't really any kind of competition. I've even provided the design. I won't make any for anyone because spending an hour at work will net me more profit than ditsing around making a dozen of these brackets, dealing with people backing out of agreements, whining about something not fitting - and finally suing me when they mess up the install and mash into a wall.
If you'd like wicked brakes with a world class caliper, save a few bucks and have access to a machinist you trust - I hope my work has helped. But otherwise, Lee offers a great product, ready to go, with warranty and support.

Hey BigD. You did a great job, and it is about time somebody steps in and starts a small batch of RX7 brackets. I thought that Kowalski was about to make them. Don't feel guilty, you are not taking any business away from me. And if you did, I would't care less as I don't even see myself as a business. Just another enthusiasts making batches of parts, and I trully think it is great that some individuals fabricate their own parts. It will become more and more difficult for the younger generation that are champions at the Playstation but clueless with a drill or a hacksaw...

Until you call a fabrication shop and see what they want to make a set of one-off custom brackets, if you can even find a shop that will do it.
I had a design for the Dynapro caliper with Corrado rotor, but after finding it very difficult to find someone willing to make it, I went ahead and purchased from Lee. Much easier.

All new batches of kits with two-piece rotors will now be floating. The downside is that they will cost more as the stainless steel drive-pins are expensive. But hey, even the 2002 and e21 kits will have floating discs.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Great thread - thanks for doing all the hard work! I saw a nice set of FC RX-7 calipers at the junk yard this weekend and pulled 'em figuring there had to be some developments in making them work. At $13 each, it wasn't too much of a risk. I'm glad there's now a fairly idiotproof diagram/design for the adapters.
Please post up once you've had them on track. I know a couple people have tried this before, but I'm more interested in any bias issues. Are you on the stock MC?Comment

I've had them on track a few times already, both times short, brake-murdering tracks. I'm running HT10 pads so it's not a really fair comparison to before. I've had a racing instructor drive my car and commented on how "brutal" my brakes are. I run the stubby 25mm MC. If the pedal travel changed from before, it's only a little. The pedal is significantly stiffer now. Some don't like my pedal travel but I adore it. Because it's so stiff and consistent, it's really easy to heel and toe. The balance feels good. It's definitely front but it behaves how I'd expect, if I push the pedal too hard, the fronts lock...
All that being said, I have to add a disclaimer that I'm honestly not the most sensitive driver. I read a lot of stuff on here and other forums, from guys whining about how they need to make microscopic adjustments their brake bias, camber, caster, ride height, bump steer, blah blah blah. To me, if it has 4 tires, a steering wheel, a go and stop pedal, it'll work... I figure out what it can and can't do and drive somewhere before the latter.
But I can tell you that this is one of the best mods on this car, and while it is probably mainly thanks to the pads, the pedal feel has definitely improved (and you'll love changing the pads). The hilarity is that the pads for the RX7 calipers are cheaper than the E30 rears (and you know how dinky those are).
