    Ss pistons, brass bushings... Yes? No?

    Are they worth it, Im about to rebuild my calipers. Im just wondering do the brass bushings let in more grit? will I have to clean the lube the slide more often?

    What are the pros and cons of running SS pistons vs the oe steal ones?

    Brass guide bushings are susceptible to binding from grit and will need periodic cleaning and lubrication. Not really worth it on a street or mostly street car.

    SS pistons are immune to corrosion, which is a plus in snow country where salt is frequently encountered. Providing timely brake fluid changes are done (at least every two years), there's little advantage to SS pistons in more moderate climates.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      cars is a dd and i run auto-x in it. hopping to hit up some track events soon. looks like ill just keep stock stuff or replace with new stock stuff except pistons. Is there any lube that will lube well with out attracting grit?

        There's nothing wrong with the OE rubber guide bushings, if they are in good condition. Put a fresh set of those in and use the money you saved for better brake pads and you wind up ahead.

        For that you'd need to use some sort of dry lubricant. Any sort of grease collects grit.

            I got 2 sets of those brass bushings, and still have them laying around. I always questioned their ability to take DD abuse.
