With all of this extra demand on the electrical system, is the stock alternator capable of keeping up with the new demands?
EPAS, or E Power Steering

I connected an ammeter and was shocked at how little power it took; at a stop it didn't exceed 15amps reefing on it and in normal driving was less than 1 or 2. Headlights and the fuel pump absolutely dwarf it. A stereo amp draws more...

Update. Over the last winter I engineered a "perfect" hydraulic system with an M2 power steering cooler and OEM connections everywhere. It basically felt exactly like the EPAS. The weird thing was that return-to-center feel was no better.
I even tried running the car with a Z4 manual rack and return-to-center was STILL really weak...
So, somehow my extremely weak centering has absolutely nothing to do with EPAS.
I've switched back to the EPAS with the manual Z4 rack. The nice thing is I have -zero- concerns about leaking or overheating fluid, a less cluttered engine bay and a few more free horsepowers.Comment
