how to get the front lower? H&R race.....

I just got my H&R race springs on a little while ago. They are used and I'm sure there fully seated in..... my bav auto springs sat better then the h&r's also have billy sports.... im happy with the back. but the front is to high. i don't think i want to remove the rubber pads... but i might how much lower will that make it? drop hats might be an option not sure where to get them and they might be to low.... some camber plates lower the front, which one will? and how much lower? probably want it about 1/2 or 3/4 inch lower in the front....... any ideas? ill try and get pics soon.....

There are a few options here.

    1. Camber plates- maybe 1/4-1/2 inch drop

    2. Cut one coil off of the front springs- varies in drop

    3. Drop hats- maybe 1/2 inch drop

I would personally just cut a spring because its easy and it gets the job done. It will also make for a stiffer spring rate.

    Good luck

Just take the damn spring pads out. You could do it in 3 minutes with a razor blade.

Maybe 1/4-3/8" for the spring pads.

Before you lower the front anymore take a real good look at how little clearance there is between the ground and the oil pan. Then think about all of the things you could hit with the current ride height.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Barry, my right thumb bears a painful reminder of cutting my old spring pads off IE springs years ago. I did it with a switchblade, and had my head over the hood while my hand was under the fender cutting the spring pad, just judging by feel. I didn't realize that my thumb was over the 'lock' button on the knife, and it turned 90 degrees on my thumb, blade went in over 1/2"!

To the OP -- sounds like you just want the car on the ground so I'd say fuck it and hack off the top coil.

In my opinion the best bet would be GC camber plates. It will lower the car in the range you want, provide more strut travel, and give you full adjustability on the front end. It's a win win in my book.

its an m50 and the oil pan is much higher then the m42. it was lower with my bavauto springs, and i had no problems.

Best place to get them is directly from Ground Control. Unless you can find someone selling them used.
